We will bring you and your gear where the excitement is. To reach the best snow and get some epic descents, we switch locations almost daily. Our guides will adapt the touring to the group’s goals and abilities. All you have to do is enjoy the views and pick the most exciting slope you want to shred!

PROGRAM
The sailing tours in Lyngen start every Saturday, departing from Tromsø. The Lyngen program is flexible due to weather and other conditions. Both forest skiing and mountain skiing are optionable, so we’ll deliberate what the best program is. We’ll find you the most beautiful and adventurous spots!
After the chef’s buffet style breakfast, the zodiacs will bring you ashore. Depending on the location you will spend the morning or the whole day skiing there, possibly we’ll shift in the afternoon. Lunch can be served on board or be packed, and after you return in the afternoon you will enjoy a hot snack, a hot shower and a satisfying dinner. In the evening you can enjoy the company and learn from our guides.
The maximum sailing distance of this trip will be about 230 nautical miles.

THE GUIDES
- Louis is a qualified Svalbard guide with passion and dedication for ski touring in the Arctic. Skiing from the age of five, Louis has made numerous miles in the French Alps. That’s also where his love for climbing started, developing into his work as an instructor. Besides climbing and being a guide, Louis spends his time biking, paddling kayak and sailing. In addition, he has an impressive focus on polar climatology. Louis speaks English, French and Norwegian.
Romain
Romain is from Belgium and speaks French, English and Norwegian. Romain is a ski fanatic, trained in AST 2 - Avalanche Safety Terrain 2 in Canada, in addition to ski and avalanche courses in the Alps and in Lyngen Norway. He’s our local expert in Lyngen. Romain has a love for both mountains and the sea, he’s got a D5L certificate and followed safety courses for sailors. He’ll ensure you are getting an unforgettable experience on our tours.James
James is an Arctic Nature Guide in Longyearbyen, and his knowledge of the area is supreme. His unique background in skiing techniques, avalanche decision making and the ability to create a good atmosphere in the group is exactly what you need to have a safe and enjoyable tour. He was trained at Sawback alpine with Tom Wolfe and likes to give you a lot of information. James is from Norway, speaks Norwegian and English, and also likes to sail.
PACKING LIST
You will need to bring or rent ski touring gear:
- Alpine touring skis, telemark skis, or splitboard with skins (can be rented, check Sportscentered Svalbard)
- Touring boots and poles (can be rented)
- Avalanche safety equipment (can be rented):
- Digital, 3-antenna avalanche transceiver or beacon
- Lightweight snow shovel
- Avalanche probe
- Harness for glacier travel (for advanced touring)
Suggested clothing:
- 2 merino wool underwear long-johns
- 2 merino wool underwear t-shirts
- Fleece jacket and thin down jacket
- Wool sweater
- Big down jacket
- Shell jacket & shell pants
- 4 pairs thin merino wool socks & 2 pairs thick wool socks
- Beanies and buffs
- 2 pairs of gloves (1 thick, 1 thing) & glove liners
- Warm mittens
- Inside shoes or slippers for onboard the ship
- Leisure clothing for the boat
For personal items, we recommend bringing:
- Water-resistant duffle bag to pack all your belongings in (90+ liters)
- Backpack large enough to carry all items listed (around a 30-40L backpack)
- Helmet
- Polarized sunglasses and ski goggles
- Water bottle, 1L
- Sunscreen and lip balm
- Personal medication
- Toiletries, ear plugs
- Blister plasters and sports tape (if you’re prone to blisters or sprains)
- Camera — optional
- Personal entertainment, i.e. book, crosswords, music

Payment Terms
Payment terms
We will send you an invoice for this trip, a 30% deposit to secure your place is due upon booking. The remaining amount is paid two months (60 days) prior to departure, the invoice must be paid within the payment deadline.
Once the trip is confirmed, the cancellation policy stated below applies.
Cancellations
When you unfortunately have to cancel your trip with us, please do so directly to Ocean Sherpa via the contact form or email.
Cancellation fees:
-Until 22 days before the activity: 25% fee of the total price
-From 21 to 8 days before the activity: fee equivalent to 50% of the total price
-7-0 days before the activity: fee equivalent to 100% of the total price
Responsibility
Ocean Sherpa is responsible for the secure and safe implementation of the activities and programs.
Customer’s obligations
Participants are required to familiarize themselves with the conditions of sale before they book the activity, and sign for reading and understanding the terms of participation.
Furthermore, the participant is obliged to follow any instructions given by the organizer or the tour guides.
Customer’s Responsibilities
Customers are responsible for assessing their physical and / or mental shape compared to the tour content. They are under no circumstances allowed to bring private weapons or pyrotechnic devices on the trips. Ocean Sherpa is not liable for accidents and injuries that are beyond its control.
Ocean Sherpa reserves the right to refuse admittance to a trip if the customer is a threat to safety, either for themselves or the other participants, or if the customer behaves so that he / she is a nuisance to the other participants. If the trip is delayed, changed or canceled because one or more participants do not follow the operator’s instructions, they can be held financially responsible for any additional costs.
Insurance
Ocean Sherpa has a liability insurance through their own insurance company. This includes expenses in connection with any rescue operation. Customers must have a private travel insurance.
Program change / unforeseen events
We’re used to harsh conditions… but for unforeseen events, Ocean Sherpa reserves the right to cancel or change the program until the tour starts due to force majeure, dangerous weather conditions or other events beyond the company’s control which are an obstacle to the safety of the activity. Changes like this will not affect the activity price. If the weather conditions, third parties or other circumstances cause delay or make it impossible to carry out the event as agreed, the organizer cannot be made liable for compensation. The decision whether it is safe to carry out the program is made by the captain in consultation with the guides. We will always strive to find alternative solutions within the financial framework.
In case of too few participants in relation to the specified number in the brochure or web, Ocean Sherpa reserves the right to cancel trips until 14 days in advance.
If travel restrictions given by the Government occur, a full refund will be given. Contact us if that’s the case.
